THE SPANISH PUMPKINS

"Tarantula" es una canción de "The Smashing Pumpkins". Es la primera canción del séptimo álbum "Zeitgeist" y su primer lanzamiento desde su refundación de 2006.
Billy Corgan dijo durante un concierto el 5 de junio en Berlín, que la tituló "Tarantula" en honor de la banda de rock alemana "Scorpions", con quienes Corgan recientemente había colaborado en la canción "The Cross".
El video musical, dirigido por P.R. Brown, muestra a la banda (vestida principalmente con los trajes blancos de la gira de 2007) jugando con varias personas adicionales, en frente de un collage visual psicodélico y parcialmente filmada en 3D.
En julio de 2007, se anunció a través de su página web oficial "The Smashing Pumpkins" que los archivos del video serían subidos en internet, para que los aficionados con conocimientos en edición de vídeo pudieran crear su propia versión de "Tarantula" y así participar en un concurso. Dos fueron los ganadores y fueron anunciados en agosto de 2007. El 1er premio fue otorgado a Ahmu de Levi y el 2do galardón fue otorgado a Mason Williams. Ambos vídeos consistían en grandes cantidades de efectos visuales.
La canción fue incluida en el videojuego de "Tony Hawk Proving Ground". También fue elegida como el tema para el 2008 "TNA Bound For Glory PPV". Además es una pista jugable en el juego de video musical "Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades".
